What is Preadmission Screening and
Resident Review (PASRR)?
PASRR is a two-part screening process. There is a Level I screening which may indicate that a Level II screening is needed. The screening is looking for evidence of a serious mental illness, intellectual disability, or a condition related to intellectual disability. The purpose of a Level I screening is to identify anyone who may need a PASRR Level II evaluation.
The purpose of a Level II evaluation is to confirm that an individual has a serious mental illness, intellectual disability, or a related condition and to assess the need for additional services. These services are used to support people while they are also receiving nursing facility services.
Acentra Health, formerly Kepro, works with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and Division of Behavioral Health (DBH) to complete the PASRR Level II evaluations and determinations. These assessments will be in-person, at the location of the person being screened and will be conducted by a qualified mental health and/or intellectual disability professional.
